At the R Kansas City BBQ Comp last weekend they had a Iron Smoker contest. 2 ribeyes, a pepper, baby taters, mushrooms, a banana, strawberries, marshmellows and mini oreos and had to use all of the items. The reason for the post is that we grilled the steaks, pepper, mushrooms wrapped in bacon, the taters, banana slices and some pineapple we had with us all in the FEPG and won the competition. Just another testiment to how versatile the grill really is. I know, no pics didn't happen but we...
I just posted about the excellent pork butt we did and went out to do some bone-in chicken thighs. I cleaned out the burn chamber, placed perhaps ten pellets against the igniter and turned the grill on. It started to smoke after a couple of minutes, then it blew the GFI circuit. Reset, cleaned burn chamber completely, and restarted. In 5 minutes smoke, glowing pellets, but the fan didn't kick in and then 2 mins later the GFI blew. Enough so I will bake it, but I can't figure out what is...
Ok, so I thought I did enough homework to justify buying the FEPG over a Traeger Crapco roadshow Chinesium special. Well I am at about 10 cooks in. the FEPG is a good grill above 300 degrees. I can't get it to go low and slow, e.g 170-180. Tried the factory set 10-50, and changed that to 10-30. Got 6o degree overshoots on 170 degress turned some $15/lb wild salmon into Jerky. Low and slow is important to me..... Any suggestions are appreciated. The other problem I have is bridging, Running...
The auger on my PG1000 got clogged. The only way I could clear it out was to back off the screws that hold the pellet hopper. I wasn't able to remove the hopper, but it somehow helped. I put all the screws back, but now pellet pieces are dropping below into the area that houses the controller, fan and auger. These self taping screws don't see to allow precision assembly of the hopper to the feed chute. Anyone have any ideas?
I finally broke my PG500, we had a big storm with a lot of horizontal rain and my pellets got wet jamming the auger. I had started it up and went inside, I could see the smoke starting so I went out to close the door and I could not hear the auger delivering pellets although the auger light was on. I cleaned out the auger, and it still didn't function. So I took of the end cover and uplugged the auger motor and checked that I had 120 volts on the terminals. I did, so I figured I had burned...
Anyone experienced an issue with their smoker having too much smoke? It is making my meat look really dark. Thanks!
I have pg1000 that has stuck auger (wrong pellets used). What is best way to diagnose/disassemble? I see removing the pellet hopper in some threads but want to know best way to go about fixing the problem. Let me know if anyone can help. Thanks!
I have been using the GrillGreats on my gasser and am wondering if anyone has used them on their PG500 or 1000?
I have a PG1000 coming and I am wondering how much meat fits on the indirect side for smoking? Can I fit a butt and a brisket, 3 butts, can the top shelf be used for additional space for smoking? Asking from those who have one so I know what to expect.
I'm anxiously awaiting my new PG1000 grill to be delivered this week! I've owned a SM045 for about 10 yrs. Couple of ?'s around pellets: - What's the best way to change pellets? If I want to change flavors or remove pellets at the end of a smoke? Is a small shop vac the best method? - Sifting pellets - is this required? Thanks!
I had the start to a fire in the pellet hopper today. How can this happen?? Please advise on how to avoid. Got me really worried. Fast Eddy PG500
I just received my PG1000 last week. I’m having issues reaching the desired cook temp. I’m using cook shack hickory pellets. LHT 10 HHT set at various ranges from 40 to 150. Set temp at 375 with hht at 100 digital gauge on grill gets to about 350 then backs down then back up but never gets to set temp of 375. With hht set to 150 Temp gets to about 365 then backs down. I’m having the same issue with “lower temp set at 275 and hht of 40. I’ve tried adjusting the flue cap from all the way down...
New to pellet smoking. Received my PG500 yesterday and was super excited to get smokin'... Had an issue where the fire pot when out and temp dropped to 112 degrees. Smoker lit again and temp raised to 330 degrees before coming back down to my set point of 225 degrees. Noticed a big temp swing and loosing temp, so I adjusted the LHt and HHt a few times until I had constant temps. LHt 25 and HHt 50 (problem solved I think). Went out this morning to get my brisket and wrap it up after being on...
Ok my first smoke on the most expensive smoker I’ve ever owned. PG500. This may be the worst smoker I’ve ever used. Followed all the directions for set up and seasoning and started my first smoke. Trying to hold 235. I’m get 60 degree temperature swings. At one point it blew out. There is zero wind here today and it’s warm. I left it alone for 30 minutes and came back a the temp was 137 and the ash pot was full of unburned pellets. Cleaned it all out and restarted the grill. I’ve had to turn...
Hello i live in south Carolina and would like to sell my 3 year old pg 1000. I already have a sm025 and really dont see the need to have both. Looking to get $1900 or best offer
Hello guys, So I'm choosing between these two models: FE PG500 and Traeger TFS60LZC I really don't know which one, cause FEPG has proven its durability, but the Traeger one is on a good discount at the nearby vendor... Could you please clarify the pros and cons of each one? I'd really appreciate REAL user experience Thanks a lot
Anyone ever do pizza on the PG 500? I could probably find a dough recipe and figure out toppings, but I don't know what kind of pizza stone to get (if any) and what temp to use. Please advise.
While I wait for delivery of my new PG1000 I've been trying to do some research on just what might do well in which cooking zone. How about a few comments about what you cook in which zone? TNX MM
Hello, would love to look at one of these before purchase. Anyone on the East coast of Florida that would let me take a look? TIA
I've had my PG 500 since May and have went thru 5 bags of pellets. I really gets used more than my FEC 100. A couple of weeks ago, while trying to remove the offset side grate, I noticed the steel divider wall, which separates the direct and offset side is badly warped, obviously from the heat. It's really difficult to get the offset-side grate back in without using a screwdriver to pry the wall over. Has anyone else experience this? Maybe I'll call cookshack. Works fine otherwise. I do get...
