Has anyone cooked on both of these smokers to compare your finished product ? I have heard the 500 cooks better than the 750. I would like to have the room on the 750 but could get by with a 500. It will be installed on a trailer.

I just ordered a PG 1000. Can anyone give me some pointers on what to expect as far as set up, and initial use? I have both the SM045 and 066. I have been helping new owners of these smokers by letting them know some of the things to watch for. Now I am just hoping someone can do that for me with the new purchase.

<![CDATA[fec 120 relay information]]> https://forum.www.0422203715.com/topic/fec-120-relay-information scruffy

Trying to pin down problem with supplying 120v to the auger motor. Hopper switch is working correctly but when I check voltage on the pins to auger on relay board no ac is present. The display shows temperature so I believe that part is working correctly so maybe a relay controlling the ac for the auger is the problem. If I am correct here anyone know which relay it is. Manually putting pellets in the fire pit is a pain when smoking brisket and pork butts for the diner and food trailer.

<![CDATA[Auger Jam]]> https://forum.www.0422203715.com/topic/auger-jam mountainman

I've been using pellet cookers for 13 years. 6 years with my current FEPG 1000, 5 years with an FEC 100 and 2 years with a CS-570 during this time I've only had this one auger jam. I've just reassembled my FEPG 10000 after clearing the jam. To clear the jam I had to manually move the auger back and fourth multiple times to loosen the pellets and remove them. The pellet bin was full of dry cookshack pellets and there was some accumulated dust in the bottom, I'm not sure if this was a lot of...

Hey guys, Went to turn on the smoker this morning and all it does is beep and act like the auger wants to turn and then stop. It's a intermittent beep. I am not able to put any settings in but the screen does cycle through the temps and cook time. I opened the control panel and hit the green reset button. That didn't work. I emptied the hopper thinking maybe it was stuck. I was able to make it move by holding the cook temp and the lid button down. It moved and even started the fire pot and I...

I have a new PG500 and have used it 4 times this week. 2 times all went fine. 2 times the flame went out and the hopper feeder flooded the burn box over into the ash drawer. I vacuum clean the burner after each use so there are no ashes when I start out. The indicator light for the burner is on when the flame is out.

I just ordered a FEC 100. Two questions: do any of you use a water pan in the FEC100? and, if any of you use the PRESET BUTTONS on the IQ5, is the Temp and Hours fairly accurate on all the #1-8 different meats, providing a great finished meat? Thanks. SKE

Anyone familiar with the Louisiana Grills model Pellet Cookers? http://www.kck.com/louisiana_grills/ I have a Model 50 and have been thinking about adding a pellet cooker. Traeger is not well made in my opinion and The FE is a bit out of my price range. The excellent feature of the Louisiana Grills line seems to be totally seperate smoke control from the main temperature/cooking control. There is a dealer in my area....they seem to be well made but I would love to here if someone has cooked...

I'm having issues with part of the meat (next to the bone) being hard even after 15 hours at 224. I cater and will not serve this meat...if its hard to pull apart it'll be hard to chew. I get my butts at Sam's and seem to be having more problems with this. out of a case (8 butts) one maybe two butts are like this...the rest fall apart. Is anyone else experiencing this???? Thanks in advance.

<![CDATA[PG1000 Hot Spots]]> https://forum.www.0422203715.com/topic/pg1000-hot-spots macminn

I've been using my PG1000 more for beef jerky and find that the slices on the edge of the trays get done WAY faster than the ones in the middle. I have to constantly move the trays around which increases cooking time of course. Along the same lines, I usually stack 6 or 7 mesh trays in there. I have to swap trays from top to bottom as well. Any tips? Thank you

I was wondering if any one has tried Cookshacks accessory called smoke enhancer on a pellet smoker? I’ve used a smoker for 40 were I added wood chucks, now that I’m approaching mid 60’s I was leaning toward a pellet smoker but I’ve been told the smoke flavor is much lighter any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Back in early December, I smoke a number of items to give to friends and such. I went out to start up my oldest FE100(from 2004) and after about five minutes, I got a high temp alarm. Spoke to Tony at CS and he suggested replacing the thermocouple. So I ordered one. In the meantime, I took my other FEC100 off my trailer and proceeded to start it up. Nothing. I opened up the control head and found that a mouse had built a home in there and also proceeded to chew up a whole bunch of the...

Do you guys have any good whole chicken recipes for the FEC-100? I read about smoking whole chickens in the other forum here but they seem to base much of their technique on the non-FEC smokers extensively (low temp maximums, water pans, etc.) I'm not new to smoking meat, but I've actually never smoked chickens (or turkey) for whatever reason. Do you have any suggestions?
