I;ve seen mention of it here before, but i just got my 009 tonight, plugged it in to season, and after about 10 mins it tripped the gfi. Switched to another outlet, same thing. Is this common, and what do i do? I'm not an electrictian and i didnt stay at a holiday inn express last night, so i need some help! thanks.
Howdy! I've been experimenting with briquette's in my Smokette Elite with some success to generate a smoke ring. It may be my imagination, but the wood seems to burn through in its entirety much quicker when the briquettes are in. Anyone else experience this? Could a potential downside of briquettes be less smoke flavor because your wood burns through too quickly?
Hey guys .. what have you all done to raise the level of the Smoker to make it easier to look inside without bending or stooping .. Could you post your pictures of what you have built or used .. since then all of us could take a look at what others have done .. I saw that cookshack is selling a stand .. does any one know if its waterproof .. since I would love to leave my smoker outside instead of lugging it in and out of the garage and I would not want the items inside to get wet ..
Did Cookshack ever make the SM008 with a private label. I’m speaking of back around 1999/2000. With the Private label of Smokintex. Hope there might be an old timer around or someone from Cookshack who can answer this. Thanks
I have an SM025 that, after turned on and set temp. , display jumps erratically well above and also well below set temp. and does not heat correctly. Setting to fully high temp brings heat up, but display still erratic. Problem developed after cleaning and I suspect I may have damaged oven probe, even after being careful to not molest it. Any suggestions? I'd like to be relatively certain before purchasing something that will not remedy my problem. Thank you in advance.
i started an overnight cook for a couple butts. At 225, this should be a 12+ cook. But I can’t get me PG500 to hold at 225. What am I doing wrong. I even dropped the set temp to 175 just to see what would happen. It was between 260-270. My LHT and HHT we’re both set to 25. Not sure what I’m doing wrong here. Any suggestions?
I started up my Model 66 to smoke some ribs. As it was getting to temperature I heard a loud pop and what appeared to be an explosion inside. I opened it up to expel some smoke, closed it again, and it happened again. What should I be concerned with, besides flying ribs?
i have a fec 120 it has been working great till saturday morning. I turned it on and it started and a little bit later it stopped now the display lights up but my auger fans and hot rod dont work. any suggestions?
I have an SM360 and was wondering how to Enhance the smoke. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Can't wait to fire up my new smoker...really looked at the Cook shack but I think for $819 I couldn't go wrong with the 1460 Pro Smokin Tex...I would like to cold smoke with this but what do I need...I see a flat double thick plate?
My wife surprised me with a new Smokette for Christmas. I put everything together today and got it all setup to season it. As soon as I plugged it in, within 30 seconds I tripped the GFI. I tried it a few more times with the same results. I carried it into my basement and the same thing happened. I am running a 120v, 15amp breaker and not using an extension cord. Any ideas? I have a rack of ribs waiting for tomorrow.
I notice when I open my smoker the heat jumps way past where I have it set then comes down over time. I have a smokette. Any thoughts would be helpful thanks
I think I have an issue with my temp probe on my model 066. I set the temp to 225, try to set the probe to 190. As soon as I set the 190 a few seconds later it hits 200, beeps done and goes into a hold mode. Second time I've used the cooker and first time for the probe. The only way I can get out of the program is to turn it off, take out the probe and start over. I have tried several times to set it correctly and get the same results. Any ideas?
i dont think my smokette needs all that much cleaning. just change the foil on the wood box and every 4-5 smokes the bottom foil. scrape off the racks and good to go. what do you experts think and do. thanks. jan
I just ordered a cookshack smoker can someone tell me what to smoke my first time? I need something that is pretty fail-safe so I can brag at work what a great deal I got!
G'day from Australia. I'm new to US style of Bar-b-Queing, I have a small converted freezer for smoking, what gives with using ICE in the smoker?? is the idea just to help control the temp?? tarka
I just fired up my new Smokette to season it. I am noticing some smoke coming out from the top of the door. Is this normal? I assume that the doors may not completely seal since there is no rubber gasket. The temperature seems to be holding well at 225...
Hi, I've just purchased a Smokette and I'm just a bit worried about what should happen if it starts to rain or snow while the smoker is in use. Is it unsafe to use when wet? Can I somehow divert the airhole on top so water does not get in? Should I never start cooking something when it's raining or if rain is predicted? There are no overhangs at all in my backyard. I suppose I could fabricate something.
How many of you Cookshack owners out there used to, or still do, some cooking the old fashioned way, offset, WSM, whatever? I really like my new 008, but am looking forward to spring and summer to be able to fire up the cooker once in a while.
Hi Folks, I've had my Amerique for a couple of weeks now and am smokin some butts as we speak. Newbie Question....Are you supposed to route the temp probe wire through the smoke holes in the top of the smoker? Cheers, Ken Minden, On, Canada
